Cross Coluntry and Endurance - Steve Heslop
A quieter month as most athletes are doing their own thing with no XC or relays to do. It`s great to see Emma Clayton continuing on from last year with a fine ladies win over the fells at the really Wild Boar at Kirkby Stephen. Also a great result for Clare Morley 5th lady at Sheffield Lord Mayor’s 10k.
Talking endurance how about 193 miles in 6 days which Rod Burton, Gary Armitage and Mark Whitelock are doing in May as they attempt to do Wainwrights Coast to coast to raise funds for MacMillan Cancer care, links available on club website to donate.
Two races for your diary Askern 10K where unfortunately Stuart collapsed last year but a great race and one I feel we should support with as many Scunthorpe vests there as possible on the night. Somebody came up with the idea of growing moustaches for this event so mine is well on the way.
The next diary date is our own Scunthorpe 10K on the 9 July 19.00 hrs at Brumby Hall and the big point to remember is NO ENTRIES ON THE DAY, so download those forms and get them in to Dot either by post or at the club.
And finally either Good Luck or Congratulations to all those London Marathon runners depending on when you read this. Well done and keep on running.
