11th March 2010 - Stuart awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award

Message from Lizzie Couling

I was just like to say how happy I was that Stuart Frow won the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ yesterday at the North Lincolnshire Leisure Awards. It is great that all the hard work and dedication that Stuart has put into the club (both Normanby Park and then Scunthorpe and District) has been recognised on this stage. Well done Stuart – you are very much missed at the club

Progress Update - 31st December 2009

New Year’s message from Sam Frow (Stuart’s daughter) in  in New Zealand.

“Can you please let everyone know that Dad is coming home on the 8th January for good but he has a long way to go.  I saw him for the first time on Christmas day on the web cam.  I could not believe how well he looked.   Mum and Dad both wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a great New Year.  We’re all hoping for a better year next year than this one.   I think mum will be pleased when it is all over.

Thanks again for everyone’s kind words and support.

Take care.

28th August 2009 - Message from Steven Frow, Stuart’s son

Dear All,

I can't begin to thank you for your love and support for my Dad.

It became as an incredible shock that my Dad, Stuart Frow should have a heart attack! Its been an incredibly 'surreal' few months and I can't begin to explain the emotional ups and downs the family and my Dad have gone through.

To keep everyone informed is not so easy as emotionally the family don't know where to begin, however... My Dad is now at a Rehabilitation hospital trying to reform memories lost due to the lack of oxygen, which happens when the Heart stops. He is also quite weak due to sleeping for nearly two, three weeks. It sounds tremendously scary, however within the first month since the actual event we were already grieving for the loss of our Dad, so you can imagine sitting and talking with my Dad know is fantastic!

Miraculously (and probably typically like my Dad!) he fought through the worst to be where he is now. He/we have a long way to go and there is no clear time scale, progress is and will be slow. He currently has a few close family visiting, which will extend to friends and colleagues when the time is right. The Brain is a vast and remarkable thing and due to the vast unknown quantity of neurons we have to take each day as it comes, whilst trying to continue with our lives.

Wendy is doing really well and to be honest is the quiet achiever/backbone of the family, as you can imagine it obviously takes it toll and isn't an easy thing for anyone to get your head around. Please don't hesitate in asking questions (I can't guarantee I have any answers!)

I would like to thank Fiona for he regular text and phone calls and I will endeavor to update everyone as I can, If there are any significant improvements as we go along.

Thank you all again

Love Steven Frow and Family X

I would just like to offer Stuart's wife and family my best wishes and to let them know I am thinking about them.  I was running shoulder to shoulder with Stuart in the Askern 10k when he collapsed at my feet, although I did not know the man I found it very distressing, and want to wish him a full and speedy recovery.

Shirley and I have just got back from holiday and heard about Stuart. I got Stuart involved in athletics at Normanby Park A.C. and he has never forgiven me, but as many others have said he will never give up and he is always positive about life.
We pray that he soon pulls through and is back inspiring others to do their best.
We both will have Stuart and his whole family constantly in our thoughts until he is well again.

A message from 'that big lad' - I have never met anybody who is always as positive and encouraging as Stu , and I know he will be telling himself that he can come through this illness. We all look forward to seeing him back at the track when the kids are doing one last rep after they said they were tired and he told them they could stop after 4, but said it in such away they went and did the 5th one anyway.  (Hopefully I can learn that trick whilst I help the kids through his training plan over the next few weeks)
Best wishes to all the Frow family

From Stu's daughter Sam and family in New Zealand, just a quick message to say thankyou for all the concern and good wishes from dads friends.  I know mum appreciates them at this difficult time as do my brothers Steve and Lee.  We all know he is a fighter and hope he will be back causing mayhem on the track really soon.
