Guidelines for the Use of Photographic & Video Images of Children/Young People under the age of 18
and for Vulnerable Adults
The Scunthorpe and District Athletic Club is committed to the provision of a safe environment for children/young people under the age of 18 and vulnerable adults. Essential to this commitment, is the necessity to ensure that all steps are taken to protect such people from the inappropriate use of their images.
key principles:
- Parents/carers and children have a right to decide whether children’s images are to be taken, and how those images may be used - The Club Membership form contains a ‘photograph permission’ section
- Images should convey the best principles and aspects of athletics fairness and fun.
- No image will be open to obvious misinterpretation and misuse.
- Images should only be taken by authorised persons - this will either a Club appointed photographer registered as an Official with UK Athletics or a temporary photographer who is able to confirm a similar status. In either case authorisation must be obtained from North Lincs Council when taking images at Quibell Park or by other officials at ‘Away Meetings’.
- All images of children should be securely stored.
- In the case of images used on web-sites, particular care must be taken to ensure that no identifying details facilitate contact with a child or vulnerable person.
- Parents / carers who wish to take photographs must register at each event.
