Chairman’s message July 2011
It’s encouraging to see the results and achievements of individual athletes and league teams again this year and it makes me proud of our club and the level we have people competing at.
We still need to get people involved to run the club from behind the scenes and we need more people to become coaches, it saddens me when we have to close membership for 2 out of the 5 groups and have in excess of 30 children on a waiting list.
It’s my intention to step down at the AGM in November as chairman. Having stood for over two and half years its time for someone else to take over and take the club on it’s next journey. I have enjoyed my time as chair and I believe I will leave the role knowing the club is left in a good position .The role isn’t as daunting as I first thought and I would encourage anyone who wants to have a go to step forward and I will offer my support wherever I can.
So to stop the rumours before they start I’m not leaving the club, I will continue as a coach and support the club where I can.

NEW JOB POSTED: Press and Communications Officer
Matt Hammond, our current Press and Communications Officer is having to relinquish this role due to his increased Coaching / Training programme for this year.
Matt has been the perfect ambassador for our Club and has ensured that our athlete’s performances have received great coverage in our local press. Matt’s reports have also regularly filled the pages of our website, often appearing before we even get the official results.
On behalf of the Club I wish to thank Matt for all his hard work and hope that his extra coaching sessions result in more outstanding results for our athletes.

Vacancy – Club Communications and Press Officer
The role holder will be required to:
- · Liaise with the Road, XC and Track & Field heads and produce (or arrange to have produced) timely reports of Club and League events and communicate these reports to the Scunthorpe Telegraph and the Club Webmaster
- · Manage or oversee the production of the Club Quarterly Newsletter
- Matt Hammond will provide support to the successful applicant for an initial period
