ALICE BREAKS 40 YEAR OLD RECORD

Whilst the majority of their team mates were in Hull competing in The Humberside schools championships 6 Scunthorpe and District club members headed south to Boston to compete in the Lincolnshire School championships due to the fact they go to school over the county boundary.

Despite the small number their were plenty of titles won .But pride of place went to Alice KAYE who was competing in the intermediate Girls and broke a forty year old county schools  record when winning the 200m in a new personal best and club record.

She then went onto win the 300m again recording a new personal best. Alice can be very happy with her weekend’s work which now sees her ranked 11 in the country for 200m and 17th for 300m. Also in the same section Zoe EAST won the Long Jump then set a new personal best finishing 4th in the 100m

Another athlete scaling the rankings is Kate PATTISON who moved herself up to 8th in the national rankings when she won the junior girls discus in yet another personal best and club record. She then rounded her day off by winning the shot although this was just down from her best.

The Intermediate Boys were also bringing in the titles. 15 year old Tyler LEY has made his debut this season for the senior team over the sprint events and he showed he is rounding into good form when he won the 200m knocking half a second off his best time. Tyler will still be in the same age group next year and will get a chance to defend his title. The club is also happy to see the return of Kieran BURR who had put his Javelin down for a couple of months whilst concentrating  on his exams but has returned to training in the last couple of weeks and was rewarded with a first place, hopefully he can soon match his distances of last year. The final Scunthorpe competitor was Rob DUNN who set a new personal best in the Long Jump when he finished 2nd then achieved 3rd place in the Triple JUMP.
