New Webmaster required urgently!
As I have a new job starting next week in London, I unfortunately won’t be able to continue in the role of Webmaster. Therefore a replacement is needed ASAP, so if you know of anyone who would be willing to volunteer, please either drop in on a training night or e-mail the Webmaster and I will pass on the message. The role isn’t as time consuming or as scary as it appears - You don’t need to be much of an IT expert to take it on!
Until a replacement is found I may only be able to update the website every couple of weeks, so apologies in advance!

MESSAGE FROM SALLY BONES – Officials/Volunteer Co-ordinator for Track and Field.
The Club is in desperate need of qualified officials to help run home events and league matches.
If anyone is interested in becoming a qualified official then there are a number of courses being run in the Northern Area this Autumn and next Spring.
Most locally to us are the following:-
Level 2 Track and Field Course Sunday 25th September 2011 at Wakefield 10am
Level 2 Endurance Course Monday 17th October 2011 at Hull 6pm – 9pm
There are other courses available in Gateshead, Birmingham and Manchester. For more details please contact me, or visit England Athletics Website.
Message from Dave Harmes
This Sunday the Junior League Team will be competing in the Northern Promotion Play Off Final at Wigan. A bus will be leaving from Pitwood House at 08:30 for all athletes and supporters. If you are making your own way there please let Dave Harmes know ASAP

Cross Country Leagues
The dates for Complete Runner league are now out and listed below along with the known venues. The cost is £8 for seniors and £4 for juniors regardless of how many races you compete in.
Entry is via club entry so can you please let me know if you would like to take part and let me have the money ASAP as closing date for first race is 26 September.
I will need date of births and NoEAA numbers as well.

Message from Gavin Mann
Hi all the final Senior league match takes place this Sunday 14th August 2011 @ Derby AC, Moorways Stadium, Moor Lane, Allenton Derby DE24 9HY
We will be meeting at the Berkeley Business Park next to the ESSO garage at 09:15 or if you want to go directly to Derby please be there by 10:40 all athletes and officials are advised to car share where possible.
All interested athletes please inform Brian Weaver or Gavin Mann if they want to compete ASAP. This is a very important match in our quest for survival we have numbers of athletes away on there holidays, so if you’re available please support this match!

2. "Scunthorpe and District AC have offically been invited to the NJAL Northern Playoff Final on the 28th Aug 2011 in Wigan. Well done to all the athletes, coaches, officials, helpers and parents for getting the club this far."

Chairman’s message July 2011
It’s encouraging to see the results and achievements of individual athletes and league teams again this year and it makes me proud of our club and the level we have people competing at.
We still need to get people involved to run the club from behind the scenes and we need more people to become coaches, it saddens me when we have to close membership for 2 out of the 5 groups and have in excess of 30 children on a waiting list.
It’s my intention to step down at the AGM in November as chairman. Having stood for over two and half years its time for someone else to take over and take the club on it’s next journey. I have enjoyed my time as chair and I believe I will leave the role knowing the club is left in a good position .The role isn’t as daunting as I first thought and I would encourage anyone who wants to have a go to step forward and I will offer my support wherever I can.
So to stop the rumours before they start I’m not leaving the club, I will continue as a coach and support the club where I can.

Scunthorpe 10k - CANCELLED
It is with regret that it has been determined that we formally cancel this year’s running of the Scunthorpe 10k from the planned 8th July 2011.
We are looking to hold the event as normal in 2012.

Young Athletes League - Match 4 - REMINDER
Calling all young Athletes this Sunday 19th see the 4th and Final Young Athletes League match at the 2 dash stadium (near Sheffield). The club has done exceptionally well so far and one more big effort will see us have one of our most successful seasons ever in the league. So if you are free this weekend please support the club and come and compete. Just see Eve STANDERLINE or Dave HARMES at training. As always there will be a bus running to the event. Hopefully SHEEPY will be coming to support us again.
