Junior League - Match 1, Rotherham

The First Junior League Match took place on Sunday at Rotherham in very windy conditions. The whole team performed extremley well finishing 3rd overall. I would like to thank all the club officals, voulenteers and the athletes for turning up and helping the club to do so well. I hope that you can all be at the next meeting on the 29th May in Hull.

Thanks
Please pass on my heartfelt gratitude to three of your members for meeting me and helping me complete my 50 mile run from York to Scunthorpe on 30th April for Lindsey Lodge Hospice.
I wish I could have run more, but after meeting them at about 42miles I was somewhat spent, not least because of the beautiful head wind offered by the River Trent.
Bex, Mazz, and, I am sorry but I cant remember his name as my state of mind prevented me for even doing simple arithmatic(but he ran with me after just finishing a night shift), (this was Steve Heslop; added by Secretary), were fantastic. It might not have been their best long run this year but it was a real boost for me.
Once again . Thanks.
Dave Leather
Club Rankings 2011
I have decided to start the club rankings again this year as part of the role as statistician. I have tried my best not to miss any results but if any of you note a mistake please let me know (I am sure I will make errors). I regularly scan various web sites for your performances, but if any of you enter competitions on your own please feel free to make sure I have picked the results up and include them in my rankings
The rankings will be updated at the end of every month (time permitting)
Thanks Matt HAMMOND matthew@mhammond4.wanadoo.co.uk

Scunthorpe 10k - Postponed
It is with regret that it has been determined that we postpone this year’s running of the Scunthorpe 10k from the planned 8th July 2011.
Significant works are currently underway at and around the Brumby Hall grounds. At this time we are unclear as to the effect of the works on the area that would incorporate the race finish facilities and whilst we are aware that works are due to be completed by the end of June there obviously remains some risk to the plans for the race.
We will now consider the options available to us including possible dates later in the year. We will obviously publish further information as soon as it is available.

Kate Pattison (left) pictured with Coach Nikki, waves goodbye
with a Bronze Medal gained at the England Age Group Championships
On Saturday 26th February 2011, Scunthorpe Athlete Kate Pattison triumphed in the Under 15 Girls Shot Put when her 10.69 metre put landed her in the Bronze Medal position. This was to be Kate’s last competition in the blue/white and black colours of the Club. Kate will next compete for Kingston Upon Hull A.C. in the new season.
Kate has been kind enough to send the following message to you all:
“I have been a member of the club since the day I turned 8 years old and loved being a part of such a welcoming club. Scunthorpe athletics club has introduced me to such an amazing sport that I would love to be still doing it for many years to come. I would like to say the biggest thank you to Debbie and Gary Spindly for being fantastic fun whilst I trained at Quibell. If they didn’t tell me to pick up a discus then things would be a lot different! Thank you to everyone who has helped me whilst being a Scunthorpe athlete and all of the friends I have made down at the club. Many memories from my time at Quibell and competitions”.
“I have now joined Kingston Upon Hull as I train over there and will no doubt meet many of you again at athletics meetings”.
“Good luck to all athletes”.
Kate Pattison
